SZPU, SUNRISE Technology, and CGS ORIS jointly build a professional platform

Digital Printing Color Management Training

From August 14 to 15, 2026, the "Digital Printing Color Management Training" hosted by the School of Digital Media, Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU), supported by the Guangdong Provincial Printing Standardization Technical Committee, and co-organized by Shenzhen SUNRISE Technology Co., Ltd and German CGS ORIS, was successfully concluded at the CGS Color Laboratory of SZPU.

The two-day immersive training, combining "theory + practice", enabled over 20 participants to complete a full-chain training from color science to hands-on operation of digital printing presses.

From Color Fundamentals to the Digital Printing Landscape

On the morning of August 14, Professor He Songhua (Dean of the School of Digital Media, Shenzhen Polytechnic University) commenced the training with the course "Fundamentals of Color Science".

Starting from the essence of light and color, the CIE colorimetric system to the principles of color science, the course built a solid foundation of color science knowledge for the participants. After the class, Dean He personally guided the participants on a tour of the School of Digital Media, demonstrating the operation of various printing equipment and showcasing outstanding printed works by students, providing participants with an intuitive understanding of digital printing and creativity.

Following the tour, all participants took a group photo with the instructors.

Hands-on Color Expertise

Subsequently, Ms. Lilly Xiao (G7 Expert / Expert of the Flexographic Printing Branch of the China Printing Association) delivered the course "Digital Printing Technologies", systematically reviewing the technical characteristics, color gamut performance, and application scenarios of different digital printing processes, helping participants gain a comprehensive understanding of digital printing technology.

The afternoon session moved into hands-on practice. Each participant was provided with a computer installed with CGS ORIS Press Matcher professional color management software.

Under the guidance of four instructors - Andy Gu, Zhang Zhiyong, Ruan Weiyun, and Subi—participants started from getting familiar with the software interface and step by step followed along to perform spot color data reading and matching curve creation, with simultaneous explanations on stage and one-on-one tutoring off-stage.

System Construction and Practical Integration

On the morning of August 15, Ray Dong (Industry Professor, School of Digital Media, Shenzhen Polytechnic University) delivered a lecture titled "Enterprise Color Management System Construction".

Starting from actual enterprise pain points, he deconstructed the five-layer architecture and the five-step implementation method of a color management system, making participants understand that color management is not just a single instrument or software, but a set of executable management systems.

From Color Conversion to Calibration and Consistency

Andy Gu (30 years of industry experience / Technical Manager of CGS ORIS) covered core modules including four rendering intents for color conversion, color consistency management, calibration methods for HP Indigo digital printing equipment, and CGS digital printing color management. The content was closely aligned with frontline production scenarios, with detailed explanations on offset color matching.

In the afternoon, the hands-on practice continued in depth. Under the patient guidance of the four instructors, participants completed the full process operation from spot color matching curve creation, measurement instrument operation, print output to result verification.

Each participant personally went through the complete closed loop of spot color matching and verification, truly achieving the goal of immediate application after learning and ready-to-use upon returning to their posts.

Participant Testimonials and Completion Certificates

After all courses concluded, participants shared their training reflections in turn. From refreshing their understanding of color management to gaining practical skills, the sincere exchanges added warmth to the two-day training.

Upon completion of the two-day training, the organizer issued completion certificates to every participant who had finished all courses and practical assessments, marking a successful end to this immersive learning experience.

Participant Benefits:

To ensure the training effectiveness, SUNRISE Technology equipped each of the over 20 participants with a professional toolkit worth 2,000 RMB, containing multiple color management practical tools for participants to continue practicing after class. At the same time, dedicated printed textbooks were prepared for this training, compiling the PPT content of all instructors into a booklet for participants to review and refer to in the long term.

The competition in digital printing is, in the final analysis, the competition of color consistency. Shenzhen SUNRISE Technology has always been committed to combining internationally advanced color management technology with the actual needs of domestic

enterprises to promote the high-quality development of industry. In the future, SUNRISE and CGS ORIS will continue to launch more professional training courses to help printing enterprises build truly usable color management capabilities.
