There is a lot of talk around digital printing in packaging right now, and most of it sounds very similar. Faster machines, new applications, bigger possibilities. All of that is exciting, but it is also only one part of the picture.

What comes up far more often in real conversations is everything that happens around the press. File handling, color adjustments, last-minute changes, and the constant need to keep results predictable across different jobs. That is usually where things start to get complicated.

From 7–13 May, we will be at interpack 2026 in Düsseldorf, joining SCREEN Europe at Hall 8a, Stand E50. Our focus is exactly on that space around the press, where most of the daily friction actually sits.

Where Things Get Messy

Digital production brings a level of flexibility that was not possible before, but it also changes the rhythm of everyday work. More versions, shorter runs, and quicker turnarounds sound great on paper, but they also mean more moving parts to keep under control.

In practice, this often leads to small adjustments being made all the time. Colors get tweaked, files get reworked, and teams spend more time reacting than they would like. None of this is dramatic on its own, but it adds up quickly and starts to slow things down in ways that are hard to pinpoint.

Getting Color Under Control Without Overcomplicating Things

One of the areas where this becomes very visible is color. Not because technology cannot handle it, but because keeping it stable across different jobs and setups takes more coordination than expected.

At interpack, we are showing how CGS ORIS PRESS MATCHER helps bring that back into a more controlled state. Instead of constant manual adjustments, you have a setup that gives you the same result more reliably, whether you are printing a repeat job or something completely new.

It is not about adding another layer of complexity; if anything, it is about taking some of it away.

A Closer Look at Ink Usage

Another topic that comes up quickly once production ramps up is ink. It is one of those cost factors that everyone is aware of, but it is not always obvious where savings can realistically be made without affecting the final result.

With the INK SAVER module in PRESS MATCHER, we take a very direct approach. By shifting parts of the color build towards black where it makes sense, overall ink usage can be reduced without changing how the print looks. It is a small adjustment in theory, but in day-to-day production, it can make a noticeable difference over time.

Together with SCREEN

At the SCREEN Europe booth, this all comes together in a real production setting. You have the press running, and right alongside it, the workflow that supports it.

That combination is really what we are interested in. Not just what a machine can do, but how everything around it helps keep things running smoothly over the course of a normal production day.

See You in Düsseldorf
